    If your decal supports higher versions, it’s usually best to use the latest version for bug fixes, feature enhancements (better lighting, I believe), and performance gains.

    Of course, if your card does not support the versions you want, you should NOT try to run the game in mode, but stick with Directx9 instead. As StrixVaria says, when launching the game, it uses methods that just shouldn’t work (that’s usually not supported, that’s all), but the best you can hope for when you run into problems is graphics. Broken or sometimes crashes the application.
